I am getting into working with metal for jewelry-making. I have a ton of 24 gauge copper blanks that I have been playing around with (stamping, embossing, soldering, etc.). But sometimes I want a blank of a slightly different shape and I don't want to buy a whole bunch of them (or I don't want to wait for an order to arrive). For example, say I want a square with rounded corners (but that is not a circle), or a circle cut into yin-yang shaped halves. That's where these come in. (I am sure I will use them to cut copper sheet someday, but for now, I am just using them on smaller projects.)What I typically do is trace out the outline I want to cut with a Sharpie (the fine point ones are great for this) and then cut with these shears. Of course then you have to remove the Sharpie marks (acetone or rubbing alcohol will work) and file or sand or otherwise finish the edges so they're not sharp. But these shears are the easiest step in the process. They have worked great every time. They are super sharp, so be careful when you are holding whatever you plan to cut with them (and also be conscious of how you store them). But they operate easily, even for me (I have tiny hands and weak wrists).Anyway, definitely glad I bought these. They do what I wanted and they didn't break the bank. (Please note I have only used them on 24 gauge copper so far. Obviously they would cut thinner metal but I don't want to speculate on how they would work with thicker metal since I haven't personally tried this.)
