Make sure that the arm pushing the spring retainer has a clear path down. Crankshaft Positioning Tool: Place the crankshaft at the top dead center to install the timing chain correctly. When removing the timing chain and installing the cylinder head, do not rotate the crankshaft and/or camshaft. Because this is not a flywheel engine, if there is a "jump time", the valve and/or piston will be damaged, which will require removal of the cylinder head. Cam Phaser Fixing/Locking Tool: already installed, the camshaft phaser bolts can be tightened to specifications according to the vehicle maintenance manual, making your work easier. To prevent equipment damage, use only hand tools to install and remove the camshaft phaser sprocket assembly. Timing Chain Locking Tool: Easily change the camshaft or cam phaser on the vehicle without losing the chain tension and removing the timing cover. Do not remove the tool at any time during maintenance. If the tool is removed, the timing chain will lose time and the front cover must be removed to restart the timing of the engine.
