Been into archery half my life but never got into fletching my own. Decided to get this incase I needed to make repairs. Well...ended up opening a can of worms as this jig is so easy to use I dove head first into building all sorts of arrow combos. Very easy to use as well as affordable, if it breaks I'll buy another.I've been fletching my own arrows for 35 years. Picked this jig up to get some arrows done quickly in four fletch. I thought I would end up getting a more expensive jig later, but no need. This one does the job perfectly. Magnet holds plenty tight, and no issues with pressure on arrow. For those that complain about glue on the plastic, simply wipe or even soak in acetone. No need to scrape dried glue off. The plastic clamp is NOT an issue.Easy to use and operate. I've used it a dozen times so far.My main complaints are that you can't really apply much pressure onto the arrow shaft and that the plastic is susceptible to getting glue on it, so it isn't an ideal material. I wish they would have lined the clamp with metal. When i shave off piece of dried glue I am risking cutting into the plastic.Would also be nice to have 1/16ths of a inch on the measure.Otherwise it gets fletches on your arrows okay for $30. Not a bad deal.It does the job well. I really like the helical.I purchased this fletcher as an introduction into right wing fletching. I typically use a left wing multi-fletcher, for my right handed bow. The fletcher arrived quickly and well packaged. It appears sturdy enough and came with extra cams for changing between 2, 3, and 4 feather fletching. The one issue I have and I believe it is a big one, is the nock notch for centering the nock of the shaft in the fletcher. This notch is not thick enough and the arrow fits very loosely on it. When rotating an arrow to set another feather the shaft can move on the notch and now be out of sync with the rest of the feathers. Fortunately I found this problem quickly and now I am very diligent to make sure the nock is properly aligned. This fletcher works well as long as you understand this shortcoming. I would recommend this fletcher for someone who is methodical in their approach to fletching. You will get good results if you are. I am not sure what they mean my "sheerness" when applying the stars for this review so I gave it a 3.I wanted a jig to re-flech my carbon arrows with right wing feathers. I found the learning curve quick. The jig allows you to adjust the pitch of the fletches. I found the jig easy to use, and the fletches were evenly spaced. I had to make a slight adjustment to the nocks after re-fletching. I also bought a straight clamp for more versatility. As this is a plastic jig, I use blue painters tape to protect it from glue.I wish I had bought the Blitzenberger to start with. While this device uses a magnet to hold the clamp just as does the "Blitz", the magnet on the Bohning is nowhere NEAR as powerful as the one on the Blitz and does not provide as much pressure to hold down your feather. In addition, the plastic clamp is simply more susceptible to getting glued to your fletchings than is the steel clamp of the Blitz. The clamp itself dos not squeeze nearly as tightly as does the Blitz. Adjusting the offset angle with the Bohning is a bit more guesswork compared with the Blitz. I never did quite get it right with the Bohning. And lastly, the instructions are not very thorough. Honestly, once I got my Blitz, and read the instructions that came with IT, I realized there were a few things I could have done differently with Bohning and it might have worked better. But by then I had a Blitz, so why bother? Now, lots of people use this jig and it seems to work just fine for them. So, maybe it's just me. But I do wonder if maybe those folks are using vanes rather than feathers. I use only feathers, and those are a bit more delicate and temperamental in the fletching process than are vanes. Maybe for vanes, this jig works just fine. I can see how some of the issues I have would be far less serious with vanes than with feathers. But I can't say for sure.My advice ... if you're using vanes find a friend who has one of these and try his/hers before you spring for one. But if you're fletching with feathers, save up for the Blitzenberger from the start.I have had the more expensive jigs in the past, but this works just as well, or better. After buying the Bohning jig, I went and purchased a Blitzenburger jig. The Bohning worked MUCH better on my .166 ID arrow shafts than the higher priced Blitzen burger. Higher price does not always mean better. I have 2 Bohning jigs now and will purchace a THIRD, for about the price of ONE Blitzenburger. Steve Welsh. P.S. It works just as well on Standard size arrow shafts. Why buy this instead of a higher end jig? It does work but it does not hold your hand on any step of the process. There is no scale marking for helical angle, you have to measure that yourself and set it close enough. It automatically fletches index vane in the recurve orientation. There is no option to change it to compound index vane orientation, meaning if you're fletching for compound or crossbow you have to rotate your nocks to the desired orientation after fletching is complete. Be very careful to press the end of the clamp against the arrow side of the nock housing to ensure consistent placement for each vane. Also be absolutely sure the arrow is fully seated in the nock housing. The nock does not clamp in securely and can shift if you're not careful. I apply light pushing pressure on the arrow with my left hand to make sure it does not shift when placing the vane on for this reason. There's nothing wrong with this jig, it's just as basic as Bohning could get away with. Nicer jigs can be adjusted to automatically fletch in compound orientation, have precise scaled angle adjust for helical, and hold your arrow nock in securely. You're paying for convenience and consistency there.Love this jig. I first got the Aae 3 fletching jig for like 12$ less, but was not happy because I couldn't adjust it and arrow tip kept lifting the jig if no pressure applied. So I got this jig and it is very adjustable, took me quite some time to get it perfectly adjusted to about a 3-4° right helical with 2 inch blazer vanes... I'm a perfectionist...Arrows sing through the air, very steady and even broadheads are flying true. Very nice beginner, budget jig.I always wipe the clamp every vane I glue and after finishing the arrow I gently scrape all the hardened glue off with a knife to keep it from getting all gunked up. Works well! Trae accesorio para 4 plumas pero ese no lo he usadoAs advertised, this is easy to use, robust and well crafted. no issue adjusting angles on the fletching rig and the rotating knob on the end is stiff enough to avoid accidental rotation when mounting feathers. Used with both synthetic and natural feathers and no issue with either. It would be nice to see a wider base for situations when I cannot screw it down to the workbench and it would be nice to see a slightly stronger magnet on the clip. Overall, very happy with my purchase. For use on Crossbow bolts, fabrication of an arrow nock for the crossbow bolt is required for indexing each vane. This Bohing tool has been replaced by a new version and for a few dollars more and appears to be a better fetching jig.
