It is the basis of the the training guides for the shopsmith as tutorial or reference guideThis is a great book even if you are not a Shopsmith owner. It does have a lot of hacks for using table saws, rouyters, drill presses, etc. Was blessed to get it.Great book for first time Shopsmith owners.Explains and answers a lot about the difference in each part and ability of the equipment. This is a excellent book for any ShopSmith Mark V owner. In fact, I might go so far as to say it is essential for any new owner. It covers much of what is covered in the ShopSmith manuals but everything is there in one book and it is easier to read. This is a hardcover book with 360 pages. Will lie flat on workbench for easy reading while working on projects. Cover's all the basic functions of the Mark V (i.e. table saw, drill press, lathe, etc) as well as many of the special function tools such as the jointer, bandsaw. Also covers alignment and maintenance.Book is in great shape. Lots of useful information.I'm very new to woodworking. I bought a ShopSmith that had not been used but the book was not in the package for some reason. So, I bought this through Amazon. So far it has told me everything I want to know. But further, it gives me ideas of things I can do that never even occurred to me. Great for a rookie like me but I would only recommend it if you have a ShopSmith. This is an owners/users manual for the "Shopsmith" woodworking machine itself. Also the power tool attachments that can be used in conjunction w/it. Although this is a 4th edition, and being published in 1989. It pretty much covers all the basics. With lots of valuable tips, suggestions, ideas, pictures, diagrams and even jigs and thoughts for following through on the different attachment functions, and their uses. The book itself was in pretty good shape.(Don't pay $30.00 full price) $3.50 & $4.00 sh&h?!!A must have and read for every Shopsmith owner. I refer to this book frequently on how to use a particular Shopsmith tool and it covers every major tool Shopsmith sells. An excellent reference book that the novice and experienced woodworker, that is a Shopsmith owner, can read and understand. If you own a Shopsmith Mark V, or new Mark 7, you must have this book.Thank youRECEIVED VERY GOOD
