I give it 5 stars and why.Pros - First and foremost - There are way too few math-centric texts written about specific applications: geology/geophysics in this case. No, it is not about all the math that geology uses, but it is about using math to solve geological problems. Nicely written and intended for people who are not math or physics majors. Contains some exercises with answers in the back. Lots of diagrams. Covers algebra through calculus, with a nice section on trig.Cons - well, really more of a wish list - perhaps just the barest of introductions to some elementary differential equations, like for cooling; radioactive decay, and similar would have been nice.I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest geology, and who may not have a strong background in math or who needs a gentle refresher. If you are a hobbyist and want to expand your understanding to more of a scientific basis, then this is an excellent place to start. Many thanks to David Waltham for writing this book!
